Alexander McQueen laid out a Henry VIII-inspired feast for a posse of not-so-starving artists on Thursday night at Christ Church Spitalfields, in east London.
Christ Church is a historical London building designed by Nicholas Hawksmoor, and has been especially significant since it was also the venue that McQueen presented his Autumn/Winter 1996 ‘Dante’ collection.
Sarah Burton, Alexander McQueen’s creative director, and the label’s CEO Jonathan Akeroyd hosted the evening alongside Frieze founders Amanda Sharp and Matthew Slotover and welcomed a host of guests from the fashion and art worlds.
Silver bowls overflowed with mussels, clams and lobster tails, while dashing waiters in kilts poured streams of Saint-Émilion from cut glass crystal decanters to guests who dined by candlelight at two long oak tables.
