Aside from Jane Fonda’s canary yellow Versace (custom-made, according to her stylist) and Anne Hathaway’s light pink Prada, there weren’t too many surprises on this year’s Oscar red carpet.
That’s not to say that the outfits weren’t memorable, just that everyone played it pretty safe. Full-skirted and strapless or body-conscious fishtale were the silhouettes of the evening, and pale pastels, shimmery metallics and basic black were popular.

In an unexpected twist, First Lady Michelle Obama was chosen to introduce the nominees and announce the winner for Best Picture via satellite from the White House. She wore Naeem Khan and looked awesome.
