Eight years after leaving the couture calendar, Versace is back.

The presentation of 15 scintillating outfits kicked off Paris couture week on Monday. Each look was dripping in sequins and crystals in bright popsicle colors — yellow, green, orange — as well as pearly gray.

The dresses ranged in length from barely covering the bum to floor-skimming. Rather than going for a full-blown runway show, Ms. Versace opted for a more low-key presentation to a standing audience.

The couture collection caps a strong run for the sister of Versace’s founder, Gianni Versace, who was murdered 15 years ago.

After launching a highly publicized collection for mass-market fashion label H&M in November, Ms. Versace then got Nicole Kidman into one of her slinky gowns for the Golden Globes.

With the Oscars just a month away, Versace is hoping for more red carpet love with its couture comeback.
