From the moment you walk through the oversize green-lacquer doors of Christopher Burch’s new C. Wonder store in Manhattan’s SoHo neighborhood, it’s clear that this is the next generation of luxury shopping.
Imagine retail with an experience that most women never imagined could exist—extraordinary products at an incredible value with luxury service in an inspiring environment—plus a little unexpected “wow”.
.Burch, the venture capitalist and ex-husband of Tory Burch, opened the 7,200-square-foot flagship emporium last October, offering stylishly displayed women’s clothing and home goods that range from tweed jackets and statement jewelry to ikat nesting bowls and engravable silver boxes—even a vibrant floral scooter.
Distinctive in-store features include options to personalize merchandise on the spot (add your initials to a nylon tote, say), dressing rooms with touch screens that allow shoppers to curate their own music and lighting, the ability to check out with a salesperson from anywhere in the store and make purchases right there from your iPhone. Very hip. Very savvy.
Wouldn’t you think that a store that looks like this would carry products at boutique prices? Surprisingly, C.Wonder offers a range of home goods and apparel in the $25-$200 range.
THE PRODUCTS: The website, will carry everything sold in the shop as well as offer wish-list and gift-registry features.
