The Valentino Garavani Virtual Museum, introduced Monday at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, is the first digital exhibition developed by a fashion designer.
The Valentino Virtual Museum contains 300 dresses, 5,000 archival images and nearly 100 videos.
Valentino Garavani and Giancarlo Giammetti have unveiled a project that has absorbed them for much of the past two years: a 3D virtual showcase for the archives of the Italian fashion house they built, Valentino.
Hugh Jackman, Valentino Garavani, Anne Hathaway and Giancarlo Giammetti on stage at the unveiling.
The launch event was live-streamed on YouTube and featured a maniacally enthusiastic Anne Hathaway as host. Presenters included Valentino, his business partner Giancarlo Giammetti, Google Art Project’s creator Amit Sood, and Italian Vogue editor-in-chief, Franca Sozzani. A sleepy-looking Hugh Jackman jumped on stage for the virtual “ribbon cutting.”
